Vintage Carved Jati Ayu Garuda Eagle Wall Decor Mask

Garuda had a huge wingspan, which was said to block out the sun, and needed as the incarnation of Vishnu, God of Preservation, for traveling between Heaven and Earth. This famous deity has played a major role in both Hindu and Buddhist cosmology for centuries.

This is a vintage mask is Jati Ayu, the Mythical Eagle & brother to Garuda. Carved by a master carver in North Bali, in excellent  condition for its age, 50 plus years. It is painted in white with deep red, black, yellow, and gold leaf with a distress from time that adds to the patina of age, adding to its mystical feel. A magnificent mask for your collection.
