Parasite Wood Delicate Carving of Hummingbird
The still hummingbird is hand-carved from natural Jempinis wood with delicate wings and beak. The base is a parasite burl that comes from a parasitic plant, a mushroom-like growth that imbeds itself into the bark of a Chinaberry tree and gets its nourishment from the tree’s sap. These dense and hard growths survive long after the tree rots and decays.
