Carved Gecko from Taqua Nut

Ubiquitous to Indonesia, this small carved Gecko creature grips a leafy twig with its webbed toes, all the while watching you while it plans its next move. The byproducts of Palm trees come in many forms, one being the “tagua" nuts – each roughly 2" long – so closely resemble the color of an elephant’s tusk, they have been used as a renewable replacement for ivory carving worldwide. These rainforest seeds are extremely dense. We're happy to bring you exquisite examples of such pieces from Bali: nature's beauty enhanced by human artistry. Hand in the village of Tampaksiring, Bali.

Approximately 1.5" L x 2.25" W
