Parasite Wood Mouse stop Mushrooms
A sweet mouse perched atop this mushroom patiently waiting for a dropped crumb. These wood carvings each have such personality and were elegantly handcrafted by a very talented carver talented in Bali from jempisis wood. The base is parasite wood which comes from a parasitic plant, a mushroom-like growth that imbeds itself into the bark of a Chinaberry tree and gets its nourishment from the tree’s sap. These dense and hard growths survive long after the tree rots and decays. The artist then gathers the burled branches for carving and used the unique shapes caused by the growth as inspiration for their carvings. Each carving is a unique work of art.
