Primitive Female Carving

Carved from dense dark ironwood by Sumbanese artists, this simple primitive sculpture of a tribal seated female, has a smooth sanded finish. From the island of Sumba, this is a decorative figure from a culture with a traditional religion which includes both ancestral, and deity worship.
