Bone Spirit Men Figurine from Sumba

Hand carved by Sumbanese craftspeople, these “spirit men” are tribal figurines carved from buffalo bone, an animal important to the local culture for its power and usefulness. Etchings and details give this primitive bone man an “other” worldly feel.
