Exquisite Torajan Beaded Hanging Sculpture

This is one of our most treasured and exquisite pieces in our collection. Created by tribal craftspeople from the Toraja Region of Sulawesi Island, this intricately beaded hanging art piece is made up of thousands of glass seed beads (almost four pounds of beads!), woven together in a beautiful traditional motif, with long brightly colored beaded strands hanging down as fringe. Inspired by the ritual beaded hanging known as a Kandaure, often worn by girls and women for ceremonial dances, or as an ornament for a pole. We have hung on a bamboo frame to fill it out and have a simple lamp inside if you choose to give it illumination. This would be a stunning addition to a home as a folk art piece.
