Peaceful Wooden Buddha with One Hand Up

Carved from one piece of Suar wood, this sculpture of the teaching Buddha sits in the lotus position with one hand up in the Vitarka mudra position, symbolizing the transmission and discussion of dharma, sharing the truth of the Buddha. The grain of the wood is particularly lovely in its two tones, light and dark, and the bliss captured on the Buddhas face inspires balance. Hand carved without the use of power tools in Central Bali by a master carver.
