Primitive Woman & Bowl Carving
Carved from dense dark ironwood by Sumbanese artists, this beautiful primitive sculpture of a tribal woman holding a vessel to her chest as she kneels. Details of her toes on her feet and a bun on her head complete her. From the island of Sumba, this is a decorative figure from a culture with a traditional religion which includes both ancestral, and deity worship.
