Tribal Bone Figurine & Medicine Vessel
From the island of Sumba, this carved bone tribal figurine represents a person with etchings of animals on its body. Hand carved by Sumbanese tribal craftspeople; the statuette is also a vessel which the top opens above the shoulders and was previously used to store lime, an ingredient in betel nut chewing.
