Lord Vishnu Bronze Statue - God of Protection & Preservation
Lord Vishnu is the preserver and protector of the universe. Dancing on top of a dangerous cobra, this fabulous bronze statue of the Lord Vishnu appears calm and serene, with his 8 arms holding many weapons including a bell, a conch, discus, a string of mala, a noose, an elephant goad, double dorje, and a water vessel. He has a magnificent halo behind his head.
Vishnu is the second god in the Hindu Trimurti. The triumvirate consists of three gods responsible for the creation - Brahma, upkeep - Vishnu, and destruction of the world - Shiva. Hand cast mixture of bronze and brass, sculpted in the lost wax method, created in Central Java, Indonesia. Though not an antique, I found this in an antique shop in Java and am unsure of its age, but it a vintage piece over 25 years at least. The antiqued patina finish has green elements to accent the bronze and brass patina colors of this striking statue.
Approximately 26" H x 14" W x 7" D.
